Sheridan is currently seeking an expert in Passive House design and construction including the building envelope, opaque and transparent components, air tightness, MVHR systems, and technology as it pertains to new and retrofit large-residential and non-residential projects.  The ability to predict the impact of building component selection on the energy balance of the building as well as methods used to assess the difference between calculated energy demand vs. measured energy demand, climate vs. weather, and standard usage assumptions vs. actual usage indicators.  The ability to teach the use of Passive House design tools/calculations (PHPP software) and to translate that information to learners at an introductory level is essential.
The ability to develop curriculum and use Building Information Modeling (BIM) and integrate digital technologies such as AR/VR into the domain of Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) curriculum at the diploma, advanced diploma, and graduate certificate levels are key assets. 

What You’ll be Doing

Sheridan faculty provide academic leadership to programs and courses within their areas of expertise and contribute to the creation of a learner-centred environment where students can develop to their full potential. They also contribute to College, School, and program excellence by leading and/or collaborating on a variety of initiatives such as new program development, applied research and alternative delivery strategies.
  • Ensuring that program and course curricula are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines;
  • Defining, evaluating, and validating learning outcomes for courses and programs;
  • Creating an effective environment for applied as well as digital learning which accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and learning styles;
  • Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning that are invitational and reflective of best practices in teaching and learning;
  • Developing appropriate strategies and tools to assess student performance that are consistent with the learning outcomes of the course;
  • Developing online materials, alternative delivery and collaboration strategies, and incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the applied learning process;
  • Ensuring that students are aware of course and program learning outcomes and evaluation techniques;
  • Providing individual learning assistance, academic advisement, and evaluation of student progress/achievement within assigned courses.

The successful candidate will also meet the following qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in relevant field of study or relevant bachelor’s degree with extensive professional experience/licensure
  • Minimum 5 – 7 years of relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated industry experience in Passive House construction, and certification
  • Passive House Certification is required
  • Advanced knowledge of PHPP software
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) and digital AR/VR technologies skills 
  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level is an asset

Campus Location: Hazel McCallion Campus in Mississauga (may be assigned activities at any Sheridan campuses in Oakville and Brampton). 
Employee Group: Academic 
Hours: Professors may teach between the hours of 8:00am and 10:00pm 
Start Date: January 3, 2023 
Salary Range: $67,893 - $117,697 (based on relevant educational qualifications and experience)
