Hours: Teaching is normally scheduled between 8:00am and 10:00pm, Monday to Friday. In accordance with the Collective Agreement, workload may be up to 44 hours per week.

Home Campus: IAHS

Rate of Pay: $73,079 - $126,689 per year

Start Rate: Upon hire, Human Resources will conduct a rate calculation based on completed education and work experience to determine the step within the range as per the Collective Agreement.

Mohawk’s Nursing Program consists of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Practical Nursing; and Personal Support Worker Programs over several campuses. We are currently seeking full-time faculty to join our team of innovative, motivated and passionate educators.

​The Nursing faculty is regionally recognized as leaders among community colleges and are committed to continuous program improvements and embrace a learning culture to promote growth and development. Faculty who teach in the Nursing program provide students with the tools needed to be “job ready”. Reporting to the Associate Dean, Nursing, the successful candidate will be required to teach full-time across the Nursing Program.


​What you’ll be doing:

​Delivering student-centered instruction by establishing environments conducive to learning and growth.
​Promoting student success by identifying their strengths, learning styles and areas for development.
​Enhancing educational delivery through the use of technology and use of a variety of teaching and learning strategies, including online learning and simulation.
​Participating in reflective practice and continuous professional development.
​Contribute actively to the Program’s vision and mission, and being part of the success of the college.
​Teach a variety of courses in the Nursing Program including the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Practical Nursing and Personal Support Worker programs upon assignment by the Associate Dean.
​Designing instruction through curriculum, simulation and practicums, across several programs of study working with a diverse group of faculty experts.
​Participating in program quality assurance activities, internal and external.
​Engage in research related to curriculum and program.
​Participating in program, divisional and college-wide recruitment and marketing activities.
​Create a positive learning and working environment for students and colleagues.
​Use a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
​Liaising with community members, engaging in program, Department, School or Faculty, and College promotion.
​Remaining current in the field of study and maintain awareness of emerging trends and practices related to teaching and learning in higher education.

What you'll bring to the role:

​Ph.D. in Nursing required; Master’s Degree in Nursing required.
​Current RN registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, without restrictions is required.
​Minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience is required.
​Minimum of five years of recent post-secondary classroom teaching experience required.
​Demonstrated experience in scholarly work, including research and publication, is required.
​Demonstrated experience in simulation and virtual reality best practices in nursing education is an asset.
​Demonstrated experience with online teaching is required.
​Demonstrated experience with curriculum development is required.
​Demonstrated experience with Internationally Educated Nurses programming to gain Ontario credentials is an asset.
​Demonstrated knowledge and experience of computer systems (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g. D2L and A2L) is required.
​Demonstrated knowledge of current and future practice, technology in education and the nursing profession is required.
​Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills is required.
​Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a part of an academic team is required.
​Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and provide a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels including international students and students requiring accommodation is an asset.
​Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and the ability to support Mohawk College’s Strategic Vision is required.
​Post-Graduate Certificate with a focus in teaching, such as the Teaching and Learning Certificate, or The Nurse Educator Certification Program (CASN) is an asset.
​Ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages.
​Learner-centred approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods.
​Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
​The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
