Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our next

Professor, Artificial Intelligence

Mohawk College seeks a qualified candidate for a full-time professor position who will instruct into various programs in our Computer Science and Information Technology programs, as well as other advanced diploma and other degree programs. This process will include an initial screening interview for candidates who best meet the minimum requirements, followed by an online video submission of your work and abilities, and an online panel interview for those who are selected out of the screening process. For the successful candidate, a professional reference check will be conducted prior to the official candidate selection.

The faculty member selected will deliver a variety of courses at both an introductory and senior level in our technician, technology, and degree programs. Some of the programs into which the candidate may teach include program courses in Computer Systems Technology- Software Development (559), and software classes in our Digital Health Honours Bachelors Degree program (595). Some of the areas of specialization that we are most interested in growing capacity include, and we appreciate candidates addressing their capacity in:

​Coding languages including Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, TypeScript.
​Ability to instruct Artificial Intelligence Skills and Machine Learning courses.
​Skills that overlap with computer science including generative AI techniques, large language models, machine vision, and spatial architectures are desired.
​Some experience with NumPy, other popular Python AI libraries (e.g. TensorFlow), version control software such as Git, and ChatGPT v3.5+ desired.
​General Software Development Skills including Data Structures & Algorithms, Software Quality & Testing, and Object-Oriented Programming.
​Ability and interest in developing, maintaining, and enhancing course materials to remain current with future industry standards.
Since this position will include degree program instruction duties, it is important that all candidates who apply have a Masters or Ph.D. in a related field in progress as a minimum credential requirement.

​Have industry experience in their field of expertise (preferred 5 or more years) that they can bring with them into their teaching and applied research opportunities.
​Are familiar with current trends and technologies in their field of expertise and have the desire to remain current in the ever-changing world of technological advancement.
​Is familiar with industry standards, and preferred certifications in their field of expertise.
​Has experience teaching in and an interest in teaching in a variety of delivery formats, some of which may include synchronous online, asynchronous online, hybrid, HyFlex, and micro-credential deliveries.
​Has an interest in and demonstrated capacity to develop curriculum, conduct applied research, and participate in activities that contribute to the culture of support at the college.
​Demonstrates a commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, and inclusion, with a strong ability to communicate and work effectively with culturally diverse groups of students, employees, and surrounding community members.
​Demonstrates the ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative methods of delivery to provide meaningful student engagement and positive student experiences while learning.
​Ability to speak and write clearly, and can work well both individually and on teams.
