Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our next

Professor, Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics in the School of Engineering Technology requires a full time Professor to teach a variety mathematics and statistics courses to College Degree, Diploma and Apprenticeship Programs.

​Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Professors in this department are responsible for providing academic leadership for developing an effective learning environment.​


RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

Teach a variety of courses as assigned including statistics for business and technology, calculus, and other technical/mathematics courses;
Create and maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom and computer labs to accommodate students’ diverse educational background and learning styles;
Enhance educational delivery and experiences through the use of the College’s learning management system and course delivery platform, and other technologies to facilitate student learning;
Provide leadership and training in the development and implementation of alternative delivery strategies, and incorporate principals of universal design for learning (UDL);
Ensure course curriculum and materials are current, relevant and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines;
Develop and use a variety of assessment techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes and perform academic advising where appropriate;
Participate in Department, School, Faculty, and College-wide recruitment and marketing activities as required;
Develop and implement a personal professional development strategy to promote innovative and resourceful educational practices;
Engage in applied research activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful applicant must have:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. designation in math or a related field with five years of professional, diverse and current experience.
Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, and communication skills.
Evidence of ongoing and relevant professional development, and demonstrated knowledge of current technologies and applications.
Experience with a Learning Management System is desirable.
Experience with a statistical software package is desirable.
Prior teaching experience at the post secondary level with above average student satisfaction.
Demonstrated ability to create AODA compliant curriculum.
Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.

The successful candidate must have an ability to relate theoretical knowledge and practical applications through innovative delivery methods so as to provide a meaningful learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds and ages. The ability to work as a part of a team and demonstration of excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

​Faculty members hired at Mohawk College must be prepared to teach with a learner-centered approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods. He/she may be assigned to teach classes at any College Campus.
