Reporting to the Associate Dean, Health Studies in the School of Health, Human and Justice Studies, the incumbent facilitates the delivery of a range of courses in a number of programs including Paramedic, Massage Therapy, OTA/PTA, Fitness and Nursing. The incumbent will incorporate a variety of teaching, learning and assessment strategies that are designed to meet the needs of learners. In addition, the Professor will have the opportunity to provide academic leadership in the coordination of courses and/or programs in accordance with the collective agreement and College procedures.


Professor Responsibilities:

• Implements a range of delivery strategies, which complements the varied learning styles represented in a current college classroom and encourages a cooperative learning climate, incorporating evidence- based practice and best practice guidelines to engage and support learners
• Develops and implements course learning outcomes and assessment strategies, ensuring that they reflect program goals
• Defines, evaluates and validates learning outcomes for courses and programs, ensuring that students are aware of relevant learning outcomes, strategies and assessment techniques
• Participates in the scholarship of teaching and learning and applied research
• Supports student progress in assigned courses through individual tutorial and academic counselling
• Engages in ongoing faculty development opportunities and effectively liaises with colleagues and other College and community partners to maintain a collaborative and relevant learning environment
• Contributes to program development by participating in the Provincial Program Review processes and maintenance of the program accountability portfolio
• Assists in program awareness and program recruitment activities
• Assists with the creation and supervision of student field placements as assigned
• Incorporates appropriate technological tools that support the learning environment
• Implements a range of delivery strategies to foster an inclusive learning environment

Qualifications:
• A relevant combination of education and experience normally acquired through a Master’s degree in related field (Master of Applied Science in Anatomical Science, Master of Heath Science in Medical Physiology, Master of Science in Physiology or related)
• Post-secondary teaching experience an asset.
• Strong knowledge of competency based adult education.
• Knowledge and experience with stakeholder engagement, consultation, and communication.
• Advocate of interprofessional education (IPE) with a demonstrated track record of developing IPE curriculum and activities, an asset.
• Excellent grounding in best practice and emerging, knowledge, skills and attitudes in the field
• A proven commitment to achieving and developing excellence in others
• A commitment to life-long learning in the field
• A proven ability to work within a collaborative environment, demonstrating flexibility
• Exceptional communication and organizational skills
• Computer literacy and a demonstrated willingness to acquire and use learning tools (such as Loyalist’s “Canvas” System) commensurate with departmental requirements
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills, conflict and stress management, and resiliency
• Experience developing, delivering and evaluating appropriate curriculum an asset.
