Reporting to the Associate Dean, Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship, the incumbent facilitates the delivery of a range of courses in the Building Sciences programs onsite at the Belleville campus. The incumbent will incorporate a variety of teaching, learning and assessment strategies to meet the needs of learners.

PROFESSOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Implements a range of delivery strategies, which complements the varied learning styles represented in a post-secondary classroom and encourages a cooperative learning climate, incorporating evidence-based practice and best practice guidelines
• Develops and implements course learning outcomes and assessment strategies, ensuring that they reflect program goals
• Defines, evaluates, and validates learning outcomes for courses and programs, ensuring that students are aware of relevant learning outcomes, strategies, and assessment techniques
• Participates in the scholarship of teaching and learning and contributes to the body of knowledge of the profession through ongoing research, dissemination and pursuit of funding to support such work
• Supports student progress in assigned courses through individual tutorial and academic counseling
• Engages in ongoing faculty development opportunities and effectively liaises with colleagues and other College and community and industry partners to maintain a collaborative and relevant learning environment
• Contributes to program development by participating in the Provincial Program Review and National Accreditation processes and maintenance of the program accountability portfolio
• Assists in program awareness and program recruitment activities
• Assists with the creation and supervision of student field placements as assigned
• Incorporates appropriate technological tools that support the learning environment


QUALIFICATIONS:
• A relevant combination of education and experience normally acquired through a Bachelor of Architecture (or equivalent) or a relevant combination of education and experience normally acquired through a Bachelor in Civil Engineering. A Diploma in Architectural Technology or Civil Engineering Technology will be considered along with sufficient industry experience.
• Recent and relevant post-secondary teaching experience would be considered an asset.
• Expertise with AutoCAD and Revit software is required. SketchUp experience will be a strong asset. Experience and expertise with other relevant software would be very beneficial: MS Project, Enscape, Photoshop, Excel (as used in the industry), etc.
• Ability to create design and construction drawings at a professional level, using a variety of standard industry techniques.
• An understanding of sustainable design and construction opportunities would be very beneficial. LEED GA or LEED AP would be a strong benefit.
• Knowledge of current programming within the School of Applied Science, Skills and Technology as well as potential programs based on industry demand, community engagement, and global market forecasts
• Demonstrated ability to cross-collaborate across various program disciplines
• An ability to apply an understanding of diversity and inclusiveness to meet the needs of a diverse student population
• A demonstrated ability to develop and deliver innovative and engaging learning activities
• A demonstrated understanding of the principles of adult learning along with experience teaching adult learners and developing curriculum that conveys the current knowledge, skills and attitudes that are aligned with best practices in the field
• A demonstrated ability to work within a collaborative environment as evidenced through a strong network of contacts with other professionals, agencies, and employers
• Computer literacy and a willingness to learn and utilize learning tools (such as Canvas) employed at the college to enhance student success
