The incumbent reports to the Manager of Indigenous Education. Salary range for this position is as per the Academic Collective Agreement - $66,555 - $115,378. The position is expected to start September 2023.

This is a search for an Indigenous faculty appointment. Within the Strategic Plan, Lambton College has made an ongoing commitment to providing leadership in advancing Truth & Reconciliation in collaboration with Indigenous communities. This position is an integral part of Lambton College’s response to the Calls to Action in Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Report. To help further support these efforts, Lambton College is seeking an applicant with a demonstrated record of excellence in Indigenous Education related scholarly research and teaching. Candidates from Indigenous communities are encouraged to self-identify, including those who identify as First Nations, Métis, and Inuit in accordance with the special program’s provisions of the Human Rights Code .

Specific Accountabilities:
•The Indigenous Education Professor works as a member of the Indigenous Education Team at Lambton College;
•Designs, updates and delivers a variety of Indigenous related courses;
•Ensures program and course curriculum are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices in the field;
•Collaborates with Lambton College’s Indigenous Student Centre and Indigenous Education Council to support the development of programming that reflects Indigenous knowledge, context and worldviews;
•Advances sustainable practices for indigenization of programming including development of land-based and/or intergenerational and/or multimodal learning activities appropriate to a course or program;
•Coaches faculty members across disciplines to incorporate Indigenous knowledge, context and worldviews into their program curriculum;
•Supports applied research activities including the identification and selection of potential projects;
•Employs best practices from across the college system, and maintains currency through consultation with community, business and industry and continuous learning;
•Develops and delivers engaging learning experiences to students through assigned teaching duties;
•Fulfills responsibilities as defined in the Academic Employees Collective Agreement.

Qualifications:
•A Graduate degree or equivalent , in a related discipline (i.e. – Education, Indigenous Studies). Preference will be given to candidates with a doctoral degree or equivalent;
•Teaching/training experience with adult learners;
•Experience supporting the integration of Indigenous pedagogy and practices into curriculum;
•Extensive knowledge of curriculum design, teaching, and assessment methodologies;
•Experience working with Indigenous communities and/or strong ties to Indigenous communities in Southwestern Ontario;
•Demonstrated experience working with Turtle Island Indigenous/Aboriginal Peoples and communities;
•Understanding of Indigenous relational accountability in curriculum development approaches;
•Lived experience in customary Indigenous Knowledge;
•High level of expertise of Indigenous forms of knowledge transmission and its use in an academic setting;
•Demonstrated excellence in active, community-engaged research and knowledge transmission;
•References from an established Turtle Island Indigenous community;
•Demonstrated track record of Indigenous research, teaching and service activities that includes the application of Indigenous knowledge and/or ethical engagement and collaboration with Indigenous communities, organizations and/or institutions;
•Clear first-hand knowledge of complex issues of Canadian colonial systems and the continued impact on Indigenous Peoples and communities;
•In depth knowledge of Indigenous knowledge practices and cultures, including cultural protocols
•Indigenous language will be an asset.
