This position will be assigned a teaching rotation in Summer/Fall. Teaching assignments may be changed by the Dean/Associate Dean and occur in any of the three semesters.

We are seeking a full-time Professor for the Environmental Technician/Technology and Environmental Sustainability programs. As a faculty member at Georgian College you will have the opportunity to apply your passion for teaching and share your rich industry experience by creating a supportive and effective learning environment which allows students to achieve their full academic potential.

Duties include but are not limited to:
• Developing and delivering a wide variety of environmental science/management related courses in our Environmental Technician/Technology and Environmental Sustainability programs.
• Deliver courses in-person
• Evaluating student progress / achievement
• Maintaining subject expertise through professional development, contact with industry, other educational institutions and/or professional bodies
• Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
• Incorporating a variety of learning / teaching strategies and technologies to meet student needs including simulations
• Provide collaborative peer leadership across the portfolio in the area of Environmental Engineering and Sustainability curriculum development, pedagogical approaches to align with UDL, and alternative delivery strategies focussed on experiential learning) to improve student interest, performance, retention and completion.
• Participating in portfolio / academic / campus and college-wide activities as required
• Participating in course / curriculum revision, program revision and renewal activities
• Developing alternative delivery strategies, and online course development and teaching, as required
• Detailed descriptions of responsibilities, are defined in the classification definition of professor in the Academic Collective Agreement

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
• A Masters degree in environmental science, sustainability, resource management, biology, ecology, earth sciences or related field.
• A minimum of five years’ experience in a related industry (e.g. municipal or provincial government, engineering firm, conservation authority, etc.)
• Practical experience in core environmental sciences (e.g. biology, physics, earth science)
• Relevant experience in environmental/resource management, environmental monitoring, climate change adaptation, etc.
• Experience instructing individuals in field work and sampling activities
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to contribute to, and work in, a positive team environment and to foster the same in their students
• Commitment to life-long learning and growing partnerships
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations and different learning behaviours
• Ability to effectively integrate new technology and information resources into teaching and learning

Additional Asset / Preferred:
• Demonstrated ability in the area of critical thinking, analysis and assessment of implications.
• Computer literacy: Learning Management System / Web Delivery Software (i.e. Blackboard) and Student Information Systems
• The ability to teach in more than one related program area.

Acceptable proof of education (degrees, credentials) from recognized post-secondary institutions or confirmation of international equivalencies will be required as part of the selection process.
