The Frost campus in Lindsay, Ontario is home to one of Canada's leading environmental education institutions; Fleming College's School of Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences - which offers over 20 exclusive programs in this rapidly evolving sector. What This Position Is About:

Do you excel in creating a positive learning environment that is adaptive, flexible, and focused on learning success? Do you have experience delivering teaching excellence through proven adaptability with diverse learners, and the creation of a learning environment that motivates and engages learners, using a variety of teaching methodologies and types of delivery, including blended learning?

As a Professor in the School of Environmental & Natural Resource Sciences, you will participate in the curriculum development process and will provide academic leadership and collaboration within teaching teams to ensure the consistent delivery of assigned courses to a large group of diverse students. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing academic excellence and achieving course learning outcomes by creating an effective learning environment through sound design, teaching, assessment, and curriculum review practices. Faculty teach in teams and develop/deliver curriculum in a variety of ways including: lectures, labs, field camps, co-op, and work placements.

What We Are Looking For:
You possess at a minimum a post-secondary diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science/Studies, Bachelor or graduate degree preferred, along with a minimum of 5 years of current, progressive work related experience. You have demonstrated experience working in collaboration with industry partners and/or government agencies, along with experience and success in teaching or training large and diverse groups, with proven strategies for innovative and effective classroom management. The successful candidate will have progressive experience in legislative based assessments, compliance monitoring, inspections, investigations, and reporting and bring practical, relevant applied laboratory and field experience in areas such as:

• Air pollution and abatement
• Spills reporting, abatement and remediation
• Water and wastewater treatment, distribution and collection (OIT) and Entry-Level Course for Drinking Water operators (ELC)
• Comprehensive working knowledge of environmental legislation in a compliance based regulatory environment
• Conducting environmental site inspections, issuance of orders, laying charges, reporting
• Compliance based environmental sampling and monitoring related to the natural environment, resource based industries, industrial activity
and/or brownfields development
• Watershed Management
• Project management

This role also requires self-motivation, flexibility, and a passion for learning and student success. You will focus on enhancing the student experience by creating a rich and open learning environment that embraces diversity and providing a learning environment which motivates and engages learners. This position can be physically demanding as you will be assigned to work and teach during outdoor field experiences in a variety of weather conditions.

You have an established industry network that could provide opportunities for our students and graduates and opportunities for the college in continuing and contract training opportunities.

You are able to apply theories of adult learning and teaching and can contribute to curriculum and program development. You have demonstrated experience using a variety of teaching methodologies including traditional, online, and/or blended delivery. You foster student success through the use of effective, consistent and timely feedback, underpinned with a competency and outcomes-based approach to achievement in learning. You are able to work independently and as part of a team and can effectively contribute to multidisciplinary teams utilizing your strong leadership skills. Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to deliver and receive feedback, as well interpersonal and critical thinking/problem solving skills are required. You are comfortable working with technology, including blended learning technologies and are self-sufficient with word processing, spreadsheets, GIS software, presentation software, e-mail, internet search, and web applications. Some international travel may be required.
