As a faculty member with the Heritage Programs (Museum Management & Curatorship and Cultural Heritage Conservation & Management), you will play a key role in promoting academic excellence and creating an effective learning environment. As a Professor in the Heritage Programs, you will be expected to contribute to the discipline by developing relevant, program-aligned curricula, contribute to cross college discussions, develop student skills, and play an effective role with the teaching teams, integrating innovative learning strategies and outcomes. Student assignments involve real world tasks and goals that are relevant to learner needs.

Qualifications:


You possess a relevant combination of current (within the last 5 years) teaching experience and work experience along with a university degree in an academic discipline relevant for the cultural sector (museum studies, conservation, archival studies, history, fine arts, art history, archaeology or anthropology). Preference will be given to candidates who have teaching experience at post-secondary institutions and consideration will be given to those with other forms of education delivery.

The successful candidate should have a strong background in a wide variety of museum or gallery experience including: administration, curation, exhibit design, collections management, and educational and interpretive programming. Candidates must have a demonstrated ability to create positive learning experiences for diverse learners. The ability to be flexible, adaptable and creative with both students and community partners is essential. Proven experience with a range of cultural heritage community partnerships is also required. This position will include teaching to both the museum studies and conservation students, so a breadth of knowledge and experience is preferred.

This role requires self-motivation, exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, a passion for learning and for supporting student success. Good organizational and time management skills plus the ability to work independently as well as within a team-based environment are required. Demonstrated critical-thinking skills with the ability to apply a creative, solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving is a must. Our ideal candidate is flexible, adaptable and has the ability to remain current within a constantly changing environment. You are comfortable working with technology and are proficient in a variety of computer applications including word processing, presentation, e-mail, learning management systems, online learning applications and various web applications.

NOTE: This position requires regular travel between Sutherland Campus and the Peterborough Museum & Archives (minimum two times/week) and the ability to teach day and/or evening classes.

Salary Range
As per the full-time salary grid.
