The School of Business, IT and Management Requires a Full-time Professor Human Resources Programs

Durham College is seeking an experienced and motivated professional who shares our commitment to quality and student success. The School of Business, IT and Management requires a full-time Human Resources professor. The successful candidate will be required to teach in all human resources related subjects, however, specific experience in any or all of the following areas would be preferred:

• Introduction to Human Resources
• Compensation Management
• Occupational Health and Safety
• HRIS/Data Analytics

Candidates must be available to teach Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. and Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The responsibilities of Durham College Professors include, but are not limited to:
1. Creating a positive learning environment that accommodate students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and individual learning styles;
2. Utilizing principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process;
3. Effectively using educational technologies to support learning, manage and post grades, and deliver hybrid and on-line courses;
4. Developing curriculum that uses appropriate strategies and tools to assess student learning;
5. Ensuring that course and program curriculum is current and relevant;
6. Working independently and demonstrating initiative; and
7. Working effectively with students, the program team and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will meet or exceed the follow qualifications:
1. A relevant Master’s degree (M.B.A. or Human Resources). A relevant PhD is an asset. Membership in the HRPA and a CHRP designation are preferred.
2. A minimum of five years of recent and relevant work experience.
3. Teaching experience at the post-secondary level with a demonstrated understanding and application of UDL and current assessment methodologies.
4. Experience participating in industry-led or community-based applied research is an asset.
5. Demonstrated commitment to putting the student experience first.
6. Demonstrated use of current technologies to support student learning and the management of grades.
7. Proven track record of life-long learning.
8. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including students, faculty, support staff, administrators and community stakeholders.
9. Understanding of the Ontario college system.

Preference will be given to candidates with relevant educational credentials and a proven track record of relevant work/teaching experience.

Candidates selected for an interview will be required to provide a 20-minute teaching demonstration. Details will be provided when interviews are scheduled.
